Here he's a willing ally of Liu Kang with the latter considering him a friend.
Despite being given far more freedom to think and act independently of his new creator, Geras chooses to follow Liu Kang's designs because he genuinely believes in them. This Geras, while still muscular, is much slimmer, fitting with the overall art design of the game.
